Choose for the debris stream, then the volume.
Lumber, drywall and bulky renovation debris can need significant container space without the same weight as concrete or dirt. DW offers 20-, 30- and 40-yard roll-offs along with smaller options. Describe the expected materials, amount and site type so the team can confirm the appropriate equipment. The 40-yard option is generally not delivered to residential sites.
Keep heavy materials on their own plan.
DW’s current guidance requires a 16-yard container for heavy materials such as concrete and dirt. Tell the team about masonry, large pieces, reinforcing steel and other special load characteristics. Do not use a maximum equipment capacity as a disposal allowance or fill a large container with dense material just because it fits below the rail.
Give dispatch the field details.
A useful request includes the delivery ZIP, preferred date, job contact, material and estimated volume. Note gated entrances, narrow roads, soft ground, slopes and overhead hazards. Confirm who can authorize placement and keep the delivery/pickup route available. Call DW to discuss repeat service, multiple containers or changing site requirements; arrangements are confirmed with the team.
Put the quote terms in the job plan.
Confirm the full price, included time, disposal allowance, pickup procedure and applicable fees before work starts. Share the loading and prohibited-material rules with every crew using the container. Asphalt roofing material and shingles, tires, liquids and hazardous waste are excluded under the published guidance. Schedule removal before an overloaded or blocked container delays the next trade.
Questions before you rent
What size dumpster do I need?+
Start with the debris type and amount. DW offers 12-, 16-, 20-, 30- and 40-yard containers plus a trailer option. Only the 16-yard container may be used for heavy material such as concrete and dirt. The 40-yard container is generally not delivered to residential sites. Ask for sizing help if you are unsure.
Can I put concrete or dirt in any dumpster?+
No. DW’s current guidance requires a 16-yard dumpster for heavy material such as concrete and dirt. Discuss the load and loading terms before ordering. Do not use a larger container for heavy material without approval.
What cannot go in the dumpster?+
Published restrictions include asphalt roofing material and shingles, whole used or scrap tires, liquids, paint cans, gases or compressed chemicals, carcasses, medical waste and hazardous waste. Describe the entire debris stream before booking and ask about any material you are unsure of.
