Start with the scope of the renovation.

Tell DW whether you are removing cabinets, drywall, flooring, framing or another material. A single-room project and a complete interior renovation have different volume and weight considerations. The 20-yard container can be a starting point for a medium cleanup; 30-yard containers offer additional space for bulky construction debris. Your actual selection should follow the material and project scope.

Heavy debris changes the container choice.

A small pile can weigh a lot. Concrete and dirt may only be placed in DW’s 16-yard container under its published guidance. Discuss tile, brick, masonry and other dense debris explicitly rather than treating it like lightweight framing or cardboard. Asphalt roofing material and shingles are not accepted. If the material changes during the project, call before loading the new debris.

Think about the crew’s route.

Positioning a container near the work can reduce carrying, but access and safe pickup still matter. Identify overhead obstructions, protect the path out of the property and keep the container door accessible. Confirm who will meet the driver, authorize placement and manage any gate or parking restrictions. Do not block the access DW needs to retrieve the container.

Match the rental window to the work.

Ask about rental duration, extensions and the pickup process. If the demolition schedule is uncertain, explain that when requesting the quote. For a phased renovation, discuss whether one container, a later pickup or another service arrangement makes sense. A requested date is a preference until DW confirms availability and scheduling.

Questions before you rent

How much does dumpster rental cost in Houston?+

Your quote depends on the container, material, location and service requirements. Ask for the full price, including delivery, pickup, disposal allowance, rental time, tax and applicable fees. Request a current quote rather than relying on an older advertised base rate.

Can I put concrete or dirt in any dumpster?+

No. DW’s current guidance requires a 16-yard dumpster for heavy material such as concrete and dirt. Discuss the load and loading terms before ordering. Do not use a larger container for heavy material without approval.

Can I request next-day delivery?+

DW advertises next-day service. Actual timing depends on the container, location and availability. Include your preferred date in the request or call the team if timing is urgent. Submitting a request does not reserve a delivery slot.
